Town Theatre
The Town Theatre Bečej - Városi Színház Becse (former Culture Centre, Centre for Culture “Vuk Karadžić” is in the very centre of Bečej , at the address M.Tita 14. The Town Theatre is a representative cultural amenity of the town and municipality and the cultural core of the town, a mutual institution and a meeting spot of various artistic achievements of all nationalities of Bečej.
The Town Theatre comprises of Large Auditorium, Creative Centre, Art gallery »Krug« (The Circle)«, Chamber Auditorium (under renovation and complete reconstruction at the moment) and the Theatre Club. Over the past years all reputable theatre houses from our country were the guests on the Town Theatre stage, as well as the majority of the most reputable names of our theatrical core and music authors. The Auditorium has seating capacity for 340 and it has full technical equipment, including the one for showing films.
The Creative Centre of the Town Theatre – »Majske igre« (May Plays) (situated in former cafe »Libero«) is a long-running project based on workshops for children and teenagers and it concerns creative work in the fields of scenery, literature, art, music, IT, ecology and so on, under the supervision and guidance of skilled people.
Within the Town Theatre there are several amateur drama groups that work in Serbian and Hungarian language. These are children drama, teenage drama and evening stage, which comprise of several drama groups that prepare theatre performances in Serbian and Hungarian language.
The art gallery »Krug« is one of the most representative exhibition places in Vojvodina. Over the years, the gallery, situated in the very centre of the town, has hosted a large number of academic artists as well as amateurs. Besides exhibitions other kindred programs take place here (lectures, presentations, concerts and alike).
The Theatre Club is a recognizable meeting place of the young people of Bečej where, almost on the daily bases, programmes of chamber type take place (from literary evenings and panel discussions to mini-exhibitions, concerts, video projections, monodramas, lectures, presentations and alike).
